Blog Announcement

I have just become aware, because of checking my blog statistics, that Rolling Around in My Head, has been awarded the 'best blog' award by Blogs Canada. If you click the link you'll find the list of winners and, not surprisingly, some very good reading. Thanks Blogs Canada, didn't know I was nominated, didn't know I'd won, but the best prize is what you've given me ... more readers finding there way here.

I never comment here- because most of the time the thing I have to say is just "wow" "yes, indeed", "that's horrible" or "thanks for telling that story, Dave". But the other day it was close to the end of the day, I was ready for bed, and I thought "I want to end the day with something positive- I'll read rolling around". It's odd that I would think that, given that you so often write about horrible situations, rude people, thoughtless discrimination, and the beatings, bullying, rape, torture, and slavery that the disabled have endured. Why would that make a "positive" blog? But unlike other places I read that cover outrageous and horrible things about the world, you bring a kind perspective to each post. Everything you post has one kind character- even if it's the imaginary humane person you wish had been there, or your better self, looking over your shoulder. Every post has beautiful humanity shining out of it. And every post, even the ones about the horrors of the institutions, has this belief stitched all the way through it, that we CAN treat every person with dignity and respect- we may not be doing it, but we can. It just restores my soul to read these things. Thank you for blogging.

Wow, congratulations Dave! How very exciting. I'm so happy for you. You are so faithful in writing; so honest in what you write and you do much good in helping to shape the thinking of your readers. This is well deserved!
