Final Blog: A Farewell

After much thought, I have decided that today's post will be my last. As of midnight tonight, Rolling Around In My Head will be no more. I will be closing up shop just shy of having half a million visitors and a good couple of years beyond what I had originally planned. I am not simply stopping. I am deleting the blog. I've seen the 'delete blog' button often over the years and wondered what it would be like to erase so much work with a single click of a button. Well, I'll find that out tonight.

I have very much enjoyed the process of writing this blog and it came to mean so much to me. It reconnected me with my own history and gave me chance for real sober second thought about the occurences in my life. I needed that. I have grown as a result of this process and know that I will, at least in the first few weeks, find it difficult to restrain from writing something here every day.

Many of you I have never met and know only through the blog. Even so, you have become very real to me and I will miss our daily chat.

The thing that makes this difficult to write is that I need it to be believeable because that's the only way of actually tricking you. This of course is the first day of the fourth month and here in Canada, anyways, it's a day where you try to trick someone. So, April Fools Day!

So fare thee well readers!!

(Until tomorrow.)

April fool yourself.

Had me worried as on occasion I do hit the delete button and start again.

However my todays post is not an Aprils Fools Joke it is a real story of the Adventure we are going through to try and get my real identity back and possibly how far people will go to cover their actions. I hope those who read it will not dismiss it as drivel and be more aware of what can happen to you

not funny and it serves me right for not being a regular. I hadn't been on for ages and in doing other work I was looking for a past reference to a good web site mentioned before, rather than look through paper piles and was panicking as to when you were going to push the button and wondering about time differences .... I found the ref I hope you feel used!

you're quite the tricky trickster and you got me good. i was feeling such a loss there for a little minute and then huge relief.
thanks for this blog.

As I started reading, I yelled out loud from my cubicle!!!!!!!! Then I held my breath as I read, hoping but not believing that you were celebrating the day. I had tears of great sadness and tears of great joy within the space of a few moments. Watch out Joe and people at Vita and anyone else in the Dave's world today!!!

Dave, Dave, quite the trickster!! Had me totally sucked in and very upset as I also begin my working day with your blog and my first coffee. OK, I can laugh now. Too funny...

Anonymous said...

You are a mean, mean man....I would not know how to start the day without you and coffee. And erasing all of the blogs. How would I train new staff without the story of the couple at the restaurant, the girl with DS in the hotel lobby, the old twat? Just for safety sake I'll be making a file of all the stories.

(hook, line, and sinker, you had me)

Ha! I forgot about April Fool's! I read the first two sentences, froze, and started scanning down for the punch line...jeepers you put the heart across me!

Jeannette said...

yes to what everybody else said.
My heart sank, I almost cried, I started to panic. You have become a part of so many people's lives, Dave. My day, and my life, is richer because of you.
Thank you for all that you do, for all you give to so many.

Eilleen said...

oh thank goodness!!! hahaha!! You got me good. I'm so so glad you are not deleting your blog.

Brenda said...

I read the title, and thought "What?", and about 2 seconds later thought "Waaaaaaiit..." I knew you wouldn't do that to all of your loyal readers. Your sense of humour is just one of your many charms. Love it!

Susan said...

Not funny.

Even though I read this on April 2 and knowing that it was a joke before I read it and so there wasn't even a remote possiblity I would be taken in, it's still not funny.

Never doing this again? Now THAT's something good! :)
