Still kicking

I can procrastinate without anyone knowing that I am a procrastinator. I can be so busy with doing all sorts of different things that people have no idea that what's keeping me busy doing so many things  is the fact that I'm not doing the thing that I'm supposed to be doing. Well, I put off and put off until there was no more put to off. Two giant tasks needed my attention. More than attention, they needed my focus. Both are important. both have deep meaning. Both are difficult and time consuming.

I gave myself a stern talking to - I was in danger of letting down people and I was in danger of letting myself down. I try to keep my promises. I try to do what I say I'm going to do. So, I didn't blog for a few days. Last weekend we stuffed in our Anniversary, Gay Pride, Canada Day and taking care of a 5 year old, very active child. On top of that, I got started on the projects, one is done, the other is well on the way. I met the first deadline - beat it by two days, and I'll meet the other deadline as well.

So please give me a day or two more and I'll be back as a daily blogger, I'm afraid I need to have my focus elsewhere. I am sorry that I worried a few of you ... I promise I am well and Joe is well.

Even Super Bloggers like you get a day or two away. Take your time. We'll be here when you get back.

Thank you for informing us, that you are okay healthwise and only need time to work!

(You got me a little worried due to your absence in blogland.)

Take all the time you need
I´ll be ready to read you again, whenever it happens.

We become concerned about you when you don't write, but as long as you and Joe are okay - this is your blog, Dave! You make the rules about this blog. If you want to take a bit of a holiday from your blog, do so. Do what you need to do.
We will be happy to see what you write about, when you get back.
Peace.

Being an LGBT folk myself, I thought you wouldn’t be working but would be doing that extended friends and family times and celebrations that communit-ise us- like at Christmas, Divali, Eid, St Patricks Day, Thanksgiving and of course LGBT PRIDE on its respective dates in different cities-... when we get together with fellows (as in fellow travellers on a particular path) and the everyday is put to one side.
It’s funny to me (as in oh, I didn’t think that would happen) that people wondered about the absense of posts when you had flagged up the upcoming big days.
Also there are the serious calendar days that take us out of the everyday like Yom Kippur and Trans day of remembrance and holocaust memorial day and IDAHOBIT.
I’m longing for the time(s) when...
1. We share cultural awareness to know what it means when people mention their big days (I know very little about Canada Day but I’m starting to get it’s a big day...)
2. I can be part of the big day in the Disability Calendar! I can see there’s big days some places- like Warrington UK on 10th July- but where’s the big international day? Is there something out there that I don’t know about yet??
Keep on kicking!!!

Re, "big international day" -- yes, International Day of Persons with Disabilities is on December 3 each year. For the year 2012, see here:

http://www.un.org/disabilities/default.asp?id=1597

A good place to monitor for when the day comes around again in 2013 etc. (and also for other major international disability information) is: www.un.org/disabilities

For just general international disability info, try these on-line libraries:

http://gdrl.org
http://AskSource.info

Cheers!
