On the seventh day of Christmas my true love gave to me:
Seven seating options
On the eighth day of Christmas my true love gave to me:
Eight clerks with normal voices
On the ninth day of Christmas my true love gave to me:
Nine inclusive schools
On the tenth day of Christmas my true love gave to me:
Ten roll in showers
On the eleventh day of Christmas my true love gave to me:
Eleven accessible buses
On the twelfth day of Christmas my true love gave to me:
What I really wanted ... just one piece of legislation, with teeth, that made these things my rights, not someone's gifts.
So, essentially, you'd be happy if able people stopped pretending we don't exist. At least not like them?
ReplyDeleteThey put up doorways - to let people through - but if the doorways aren't wide enough to include ALL people, then they are only letting able people through. Etc.
Mine to include is that the distance into something from any given place shouldn't be ten times longer for the person in a walker/chair because I get exhausted so easily I'm often trading dragging the walker up stairs vs. having to walk an extra mile to avoid the stairs.
May your Christmas tree have every single of these main things - and all the little ones you didn't have space for - under it.
The line about the lovely ramps made me think of a post earlier this year about a ramp (in California, I think) that was both visually appealing and a fun experience to use.....and I smiled because reading your posts and learning is one of the 'gifts' in my life....
