But even here, there are those who are closed-minded and bigoted.

Still, I have hope. I don't know if you've heard about the KRXQ brouhaha (http://is.gd/1mZbF), but a lot of people spoke up who might not have in the past.

But even more so, I see a generation of kids growing up who don't care about race or sexual orientation or anything like that. I see my kids taking part in Prop 8 protests and knowing that marriage is about love, not sex.

I have hope that, as a species, we are becoming more civilized. It's good to hear it's not just a local thing.Uncle Rogerhttp://www.sinasohn.net/notebooks/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35743239.post-32138610525963468302009-06-29T14:38:28.177-04:002009-06-29T14:38:28.177-04:00Anon,

H...I can talk about my uncle as he died last year.

He worked as an engineer for a famous company for many years, was respected for his work and skill however word got out that he was gay and in a relationship. Actually he was bi but remained in the same relationship with his partner, my uncle John for over thirty years.

I always felt my gran and him had the perfect example of tolerance. My gran's beliefs did not accept homosexuality as right but he was her son and she stood by him to her dying day, he for his part did not change or pretend that he was something he was not but when she visited he put his more explicit items away from her view.

There is a lot of hypocricy when it comes to tolerance, a lot of talk but not much substance. Real tolerance I think is about accepting and respecting each individual for who they are and for their choices but not necessarily sacrificing who you are.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35743239.post-38619309881137786992009-06-28T12:29:33.473-04:002009-06-28T12:29:33.473-04:00Wonderful. Blame against those who come here, legally or not, to seek a better life.

I am different here. I am a Jew. Some seem to be affronted that non Christians even exist. I stand proud.

However, I work in an agency where all are welcome to serve, straight or gay, non white or white, Christian or not and for that I am grateful.

A gay friend told me about a bumper sticker she saw. No, not yet, but we are still fighting.
Thanks for all you do in our seemingly never ending battle for civil rights.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10449486002164552303noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35743239.post-7641399427262265242009-06-28T06:16:37.430-04:002009-06-28T06:16:37.430-04:00Beautiful.Beautiful.Katehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04931944728963114472noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35743239.post-82503132447137881782009-06-28T05:12:35.547-04:002009-06-28T05:12:35.547-04:00Dave, I am not gay. There is something deep behind your words that keeps me coming back. I just wanted to tell you that your are lucky in your employer. I do not feel safe in my workplace. I do not feel that I can be myself. Does Vita hire city planners? If so, how do I get an application.

SarahAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
