It's usually not out in my face like what you experienced. But when it happens like that I wonder why people think that it's acceptable. I live my life standing with friends and people who I don't know as they fight for their rights. I live in a very religious area of PA. It is hard I imagine to be out and proud as a gay person here. There is so many too many value judgements made on a persons worth here based on one aspect of a person. (people here do this under the blanket protection of religion) I can promise you.. that no matter what you believe there is no prophet or deity in any faith who wishes it's members to inflict pan on others in the his or her name!!! The same as happens to me when I travel around town on my scooter. I have written many many blog post on equality. I have friends who I wait with as the courts here in the US debate endlessly what marriage is. Give me a break!!! Who said the courts or the states or government at all should decide. I am very vocal about my thoughts every where I go. Not rude just vocal because I believe if we the "others" don't stand together in all aspects of "otherness" it will never get any better. I've been told repeatedly by concerned friends and family , most of whom share my feelings that I should be quiet for my safety. Because this isn't that area to be very vocal about those things. But I will not change how I live and love because to me that's the same thing as acceptance of the unacceptable, wether its directed at me or not.Lauranoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35743239.post-2881298770624178372013-06-24T13:28:56.811-04:002013-06-24T13:28:56.811-04:00My hugs to you, Dave.
