And there was one very specific journal article that I ABSOLUTELY HAD TO HAVE for that literature review.

But: my university library didn't have that whole journal (much less the so-critical article) in its stacks. So I went to the librarian in a panic thinking I might have to go to one of the other university libraries in the area and disrupt my weekend plans accordingly and take crucial time away from other homework. It would have been a really major headache at a time I couldn't afford it (very busy semester, so by "weekend plans" I mean "studying, more studying, and still more studying"). Or, worse, I thought I might not be able to find the article at all. Which would have left my project significantly impoverished.

And in, oh, less than 10 minutes, the librarian prints THE! ARTICLE! for me from on-line! (This was my first exposure to on-line professional journals -- NOT my last! :-) ) So I go from full panic mode to suddenly holding the holy grail in my hot little hands!

So I was very effusive in my gratitude. And was surprised to hear the librarian starting to thank ME. (Er? Lady? YOU helped ME! I'M thanking YOU! How did this get reversed? ;-) )

Then she explained that earlier that day another student had come in with a request that was also very important to that student, except that time the librarian had been unable to help. And apparently the student had taken it out on her and made her feel badly about it. So apparently seeing me get so excited and grateful made her feel better.

So I'm sure seeing you get happy about the seasame seed bars (seeds = plenty of protein, vitamins, and minerals!) made her day also!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35743239.post-23057466794301606302008-06-05T15:31:00.000-04:002008-06-05T15:31:00.000-04:00Awww.
